Maybe you’ve heard about All-on-4 dental implants, but do you really know what it is? Or that there is also a better option known as All-on-5 or 6? All-on-4 offers a way to secure a complete bridge with the stability of dental implants — without requiring an individual implant for each missing tooth. Dr. Erin Page are pleased to offer this revolutionary option in implant dentistry at Capital Smiles.
Increased Stability for Your Denture
One common complaint we hear from patients who wear traditional dentures is that they slip around or have lost their fit. A removable denture may become uncomfortable due to the degeneration of the jawbone, as missing teeth cause the bone to weaken and shrink. The effect is especially rapid when all the teeth have been lost. Additionally, due to the shape of their mouth or other factors, some people never enjoy the benefits of a properly-fitting traditional denture at all. Retaining the prosthetic with dental implants provides significant help for complete denture wearers.
All-on-4 Dental Implants: Even Better With 5 or 6
All-on-4 is a method of replacing all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw with a fixed bridge retained by dental implants. Placing a traditional dental implant for each missing tooth would be highly invasive and prohibitively expensive — but All-on-4 or 6 allow Dr and Page to use fewer dental implants for increased stability.
This implant method typically uses 4 dental implants to secure a full denture, but at Capital Smiles, we encourage the use of All-on-5 or even All-on-6 for maximum success. The more implants you have, the more stable your bridge is. And, if one implant fails and you only have 4 total, your prosthesis will not fit as intended. This is especially true for patients who do not have plenty of healthy bone structure. Adding a fifth or sixth dental implant ensures that in the event that one of the dental implants fails, we can still rescue your smile.
Multiple Benefits of All-on-6 Dental Implants
Because the dental implants are placed at angles which are different than traditional implants, All-on-4 does not require the long wait times between implant placement and restoration that are necessary with traditional dental implants. Often called “Teeth in a Day,” All-on-6 can be restored with temporary teeth the same day as implant placement.
Additional benefits of dental implants include:
- No need for denture adhesives to secure a loose or ill-fitting prosthetic
- Restored ability to eat and speak normally
- Improved oral health with a stabilized jaw bone
